Associate Principal's Message

Estimadas familias de Longfellow,

It is with great joy and excitement that I serve as your Associate Principal. I am incredibly honored to continue to be a part of the Longfellow family and to partner with our dedicated staff, talented students, and vibrant community to foster a thriving, bilingual learning environment.

As an educator, I have always believed that language is a bridge to understanding, empathy, and opportunity. In this TK-8 Spanish Immersion setting, we are not just teaching academic content; we are gifting our students cognitive flexibility, cultural appreciation, and a lifelong asset. Watching our youngest TK learners take their first steps towards learning a second language, and seeing our eighth graders graduate as confident, bilingual leaders, is a truly inspiring journey.

Before coming to Longfellow, I spent 16 years as a bilingual teacher in both elementary and middle school settings in California and Washington, and the 26-27 school year will be my 4th year as Associate Principal. My core mission as your Associate Principal is to ensure that every student feels safe, valued, and challenged to reach their highest potential, all while celebrating the rich cultural tapestry that makes our community so unique.

A strong partnership between home and school is the foundation of student success. I look forward to working closely with you to support your child’s academic and linguistic growth. Whether you see me at morning drop-off, at a PTO meeting, or around campus, please stop by and say hello. My door is always open!

Let’s make this an incredible school year filled with growth, learning, and comunidad.

Warmly,

Ms. Julie Sand

Associate Principal
